Phrasal verbs are combinations of a main verb and a preposition or adverb (called a particle) that, when put together, create a completely new meaning. They are either separable, meaning the object can go between the verb and the particle (turn the TV off), or inseparable, meaning the verb and particle must stay together (look after the baby).
