🔧The modal verb CAN is very common in English. We use it to talk about ability, permission, and possibility.

👉Remember: CAN + base verb (no "to").

💪We use can to show what someone is able to do (skills or talents).

  • 🏊‍♂️I can swim very well.
  • 🗣️She can speak three languages.

We use can to give or ask for permission (informal).

  • 📱You can use my phone. (permission given)
  • 🚪Mom, can I go outside? (asking permission)
  • 🚫You can't park here. (not allowed)

🌟We use can to talk about things that are possible in general.

  • 🌡️It can be very hot in Brazil in the summer.
