Present Continuous 3

Present Continuous Grammar

📚Present Continuous

💡The present continuous is a verb tense we use when we talk about things happening right now or around now. It's also used when we talk about things that are temporary (not forever).

🔧We make the present continuous by using the verb "to be" (am, is, are) and the -ing form of the main verb.

🏗️How to form the Present Continuous:

  1. 👤Subject (I, you, he, she, etc.)
  2. 🔗To be (am, is, are)
  3. Main verb (with -ing)

📝Examples:

  • 🏃I am running. (I'm running right now.)
  • 🎮She is playing. (She is playing now.)
  • 🍽️They are eating. (They are eating right now.)

⚠️Important things to remember:

  1. 👆"I am" – We always say "I am", never just "I."
  2. 👨👩"He is / She is" – Use "is" with he, she, or it.
  3. 👥"You are / They are" – Use "are" with you and they.

💬Examples of Present Continuous:

  • 📖I am reading a book. (I am doing it right now.)
  • They are playing soccer. (They are doing it now.)
  • 📺He is watching TV. (He is doing it at this moment.)

🎯When to use the Present Continuous:

  • 🕐For actions happening right now: "I am writing in my notebook."
  • For temporary actions: "She is staying with her grandmother this week."
  • 📅For future plans: "We are going to the park tomorrow."
